Mario García Torres (b. 1975, Monclova, México) lives and works between Mexico City and Los Ángeles. Some of the most important solo exhibitions of his work have been held at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2007), Kunsthalle Zürich (2008), Berkeley Art Museum, Berkeley (2009), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid (2010) ; Museo MADRE, Nápoles (2013), Museo de Arte Pérez, Miami (2015), TBA21, Viena (2016), Museo Tamayo, Mexico City (2016), Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (2018) and Wiels Art Center, Bruselas (2019). He has also participated in numerous collective international exhibitions such as the Bienal de Sharjah 13, Tamawuj, Emirates (2017), Manifesta 11, Zurich, the Berlin Bienal (2014); Mercosur Bienal, Porto Alegre, Brasil (2013); Documenta 13, Kassel, Alemania (2012); Bienal de São Paulo (2010); and the Venice Bienal (2007), just to name a few. His works can be found in public collections such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the MUAC and the Tamayo Museum in Mexico City, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, and the Tate Modern in London. His exhibition “Mario García Torres. La poética del regreso” is currently on view at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey.
