RESIDENT

DANIEL URIBE

COLOMBIA

Daniel Uribe was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. He studied sociology in Madrid, Spain, and currently lives in Mexico City. For 10 years he has worked as a researcher on the development of film scripts. He documents different universes for writers and producers to develop their stories.

Six years ago Uribe started a personal research on the history of drugs, at first trying to synthesize and transform it into an exhibition. After several failed attempts the project slowly mutated and became -mainly- a theatrical project. Uribe made the choice for theater due to the degree of freedom that this art offers, as well as the simplicity and the power that no other medium has within its reach. On the other hand, moved by the artistic manifestations that invite us to congregate and share the present played an important role in the decision of the use of theater in the work of the artist.

Incierto, the project Daniel Uribe is developing during his residency in Lagos, is an experience that examines and questions our way of seeing and relating to drugs. It is the sum of five theatrical acts and an exhibition. It is intimate theater (30 people per session) and site-specific, which will take place in a non-conventional place; an abandoned building, a warehouse, etc.
