It functions as technical production curating and assistance, bridging the gap between the conceptual intent of your artwork, material processes, and the local network of workshops or suppliers.

What does the service include?

    • Sourcing and selection of specific supplies in the local market.

    • Technical translation of your requirements to ensure material quality.

    • Smooth communication with specialized workshops to ensure your design specifications, finishes, and tolerances are fully understood.

    • Initial technical alignment with the fabricator.

    • Remote monitoring and supervision of production progress (quality control via photo and video updates).

    • Feasibility diagnosis (evaluation of drying times, weight, strength, and material compatibility).

    • Hands-on technical advisory and mentoring directly in the residency studio.

In-House Areas of Expertise

We provide direct technical advisory and hands-on mentoring in:

  • Ceramics & Clay: Paste preparation, modeling, drying control, bisque, and firings.

  • Modeling & Mold Making: Wax and clay modeling; plaster mold making (rigid and flexible).

  • Casting: Lost-wax casting processes and surface finishes.

  • Printmaking & Painting: Surface preparation, ink formulation, etching chemistry, press operation, and printing.

  • Biomaterials: Formulations and recipes (both vegan and animal-based), mycelium growth, and SCOBY bio-leather cultivation.

For external industrial processes or disciplines (e.g., CNC cutting, heavy woodworking, metalwork), the service focuses on technical communication, mediation, and remote quality supervision with external suppliers.

The service is available in flexible work modules (slots) that you can book according to your project's stages and needs during your residency:

Technical Assistance Slot

3 Hours of specialized work (management, mediation, or studio support)

$2,300 MXN

Recommended slots per project size:

  • 1 Slot (3 hrs): Ideal for initial diagnostics, sourcing specific suppliers, and obtaining quotes.

  • 2 Slots (6 hrs): Recommended for medium-sized projects requiring external workshop mediation and remote progress monitoring.

  • 3 to 4 Slots (9 to 12 hrs): Best for end-to-end complex productions involving mold making, casting, or intensive in-house studio support.
