RESIDENT

GALIA EIBENSCHUTZ

MEXICO

The work of Galia Eibenschutz is based on an investigation of the processes of transformation both in nature and in the body, and consequently is directly linked to the creative process itself as a process of transformation.

Eibenschutz’s research is a constant attempt to decipher the processes of adaptation and displacement of the body in the environment; an attempt to find bridges between the interior and exterior space. In one way or another my work speaks of the living organism that unfolds in its environment and an environment that in turn unfolds and transforms itself as a gigantic organism.

I am interested in printing the passage of time, in registering the movement of each moment in a specific time span.

As a consequence of my trajectory in dance, movement and my body itself are also key tools in my work, so these two constants are always playing: movement and drawing. Sometimes one in a more evident way, sometimes both.

This series of images are "... a photographic record of some search drawings made on the walls of the studio I had in Lagos during the months of February and March 2018. I worked in this space to build the performance Solo with drums, which I presented at the Teatro de la Danza (Mexico City) in April of the same year."
Project in collaboration with Armando Rosales Rivero in the drums.
