Luis Carrera-Maul is a mexican-german visual artis. He has been a FONCA fellow for postgraduate studies abroad in Barcelona, ​​Nottingham and Berlin, where he was a student of Katherina Sieverding, Rebecca Horn, Lothar Baumgarten and Ignasi Aballí, among others. In 2010 he obtained the Second Place in the 2nd Pedro Coronel Painting Biennial, in 2011 he was recognized as a Member of the National System of Art Creators (FONCA) in Mexico. He has been nominated as the best Latin American visual artist in the United Kingdom-2015 and the Prix Thun of Art and Ethics in Switzerland-2017. In 2018 he was commissioned to produce a work at the XIII FEMSA Biennial in the city of Zacatecas. He has exhibited both individually and collectively in Mexico, Spain, Argentina, England and Germany, in institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MAM, Mexico City), the National Museum of San Carlos (Mexico City), the Museum of Latin American Art ( MALBA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) in Barcelona, ​​Spain, Pedro Coronel Museum and Francisco Goitia Museum both in Zacatecas, Museum of Oaxacan Painters, Museum of the city of Mérida and Museum of Art from Querétaro, Mexico. He currently lives and works in Mexico City. He is the founder and director of Lagos - Studios and Residences for Artists in Mexico City.
